  • Canada Day is a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867 enactment of the British North America Act.
  • Constitution Act 1867 was formally known as British North American Act.
  • Canada Day is the national day of Canada.
  • Canada Day was originally called Dominion Day.
  • The name, Dominion Day, was changed in October 27, 1982, the year Canada gained full independence from United Kingdom.
  • Constitution Act united three British North American colonies into a single country, called Canada, within the British Empire.
  • The three British North American colonies were Nova Scotia, New Brunswick & Province of Canada.
  • Canada Day was established a statutory holiday in 1879
